The Fonic team

Barnaby Templer

Barnaby began work in the film industry, travelling the world as a location recordist. Whilst running Fonic with Jake he has enjoyed a fellowship at NUA, being on the judging panel for festivals, and working as a visiting lecturer at the RCA, Middlesex University, Goldsmiths and the National Film & Television School.

He loves fossil hunting, fishing and spending time with his family (but not in that order!).

Jake Roberts

After sound engineering for music, Jake followed his passion for sound design and enrolled at the National Film and TV School, where he met Barnaby. Their mutual understanding of sound narrative led them to form Fonic in 2004.

JM Finch

JM first met Jake when he was working in the sound department on Batman Begins, and soon after joined the Fonic team. Having worked alongside Jake and Barnaby since 2005, JM is an essential part of the company, managing projects and leading the team through the process.

Chris Swaine

Chris hails all the way from Toronto, and joined Fonic back in 2009 as a studio assistant. Since then he has become an invaluable team player, and really enjoys a challenge.

Rory Hunter

Rory joined Fonic towards the end of 2016 as a Sound Assistant. Since then he has been constantly utilising his passion for sound to develop his skills in audio post production. Rory undertakes dialogue editing, Foley recording/cutting and sound design, whilst assisting the rest of the team in the day to day operations of the studio.
