CBeebies and France Télévisions have jointly commissioned a brand-new 7 minute 3D animated preschool series called Big Lizard. Co-produced by U.K. animation studio, Beakus, and French production companies, Watch Next Media and Je Suis Bien Content, with the rights division of multi-Academy Award- and BAFTA-winning animation studio Aardman handling global distribution.

Big Lizard is a comedy-adventure series about a young astronaut called Cosima and a big lizard called Big Lizard. The series mixes in some light education about science and prehistoric planet Earth.

Featuring a voice cast including Josh Widdicombe (The Last Leg, QI, Taskmaster) as Cosima’s Dad, Mandip Gill (Hollyoaks, Doctor Who) as D.O.R.I.S. the computer and Lois Sefton (123 Number Squad) as Cosima.

Fonic has lead the voice records for Dad and D.O.R.I.S at our East London studios and has provided remote sessions with some of the production team dialing into the records whilst the artists performing in our voice recording booth.

Big Lizard was created by Amaël Isnard and Steve Smith (Beakus) with IIsnard directing and Smith producing alongside Je Suis Bien Content’s Franck Ekinci.

Fonic has a long standing working relationship with Beakus, providing voice record and full audio post on their last children’s animated series; Olobob Top.

52 episodes of Big Lizard are scheduled to launch in Autumn 2024.
