The film took home two awards from Aesthetica Short Film Festival 2024, winning Best of Festival and Best Animation. Maryam was in attendance and was thrilled to collect the prizes at the awards ceremony. In addition, Manchester Animation Festival jury awarded the film with the Best British Short Award.

And Granny Would Dance has also recently been featured in Animation Magazine’s ‘Your Guide to the Year’s Oscar-Qualified Animated Shorts’, thanks to winning Best Short Animation at Rhode Island International Film Festival in the summer. The film is now being watched by the Academy voters, alongside many notable animated shorts.
