Grandad was a Romantic
A beautiful BAFTA award-winning film about love.
Working with Nexus Studios, Fonic provided the sound design and mix for FX Goby’s animation, The Story of an Idea, which opened 2017’s Google I/O conference in California and Make Good Things Together for the Google I/O conference the following year.
The Story of an Idea’s aim was to inspire and capture the imagination of the audience. Following ‘Aye’ on a journey to protect and nurture her friend ‘Idea’ as they face various obstacles and struggles, with a little help from her friends along the way.
Following the success of The Story of an Idea, Nexus Studios and FX Goby were invited back the following year to create a film for the highly anticipated Google I/O developer’s conference in 2018. This time the story was about celebrating the power of collaborative work and achievement with Make Good Things Together.
Fx directed a team of over 50 studio artists at Nexus Studios to transport the viewer into a city populated by pixels going about their daily lives. Discovering their shared potential, the pixels pop into colour to solve the city’s transport issues, transform classrooms into inspiring places to learn (via Google Chrome Browser T-Rex Dinosaur, created by our pixels) and rally to aid a stuck pixel friend.
Both films premiered across three cinematic screens to an audience on the ground of 7000 viewers. The film was also live-streamed to millions of viewers around the globe at various events and to those sat watching at home.
Fonic took great pleasure in creating fun and detailed soundtracks for both films that were accompanied by the joyous and upbeat tracks of Alright, Alright, Alright and Animal Spirits, by Mungo Jerry and Vulfpeck respectively, producing unique mixes aimed at captivating and immersing it’s audience.
