They Hunt

Fonic worked with up and coming animator and director Rhys Byfield on his short film project, a 2D animated short film called They Hunt.

In the middle of nowhere, in a world filled with monstrous creatures sits a small heavily protected diner. A young, outgoing waitress works there with the Chef, her Uncle. Food supply for the diner is at an all-time low, as their monster hunters ‘The Femme Fatales’ haven’t been doing so well. The young waitress decides to take matters into her own hands and prove that she’s not a kid, or just a waitress anymore. Driving off into the desert on a hunt she ends up biting off more than she can chew and unintentionally unleashes a whole host of trouble.

Fonic provided a full audio post production service for the short film. We throughly enjoyed creating a fast and punchy soundtrack that included hard hitting action sequences and monster sound design to compliment the fun and compelling neon animation style of the film. Fonic has continued to work with Rhys with him animating the ident you see on our website!

The film premiered at the Bloomsbury CURZON Theatre.

The film has taken part in lots of festivals, winning Best Animation at the Grindhouse Planet Film Festival 2019 and Best Short at the CHINH India Kids Film Festival 2019. Below is a list of festivals They Hunt was nominated at:
