Hey Duggee
Described as one of the great triumphs of 21st century children’s television.
Thomas the Tank Engine was first bought to life by Reverend Wilbert Awdry in 1942 whilst telling stories to his son, Christopher, inspired by the huffing and puffing of the steam engines outside their window. To Awdry and his son it sounded like the engines were talking to one another about their adventures on the railway. Awdry started writing the stories down on scraps of paper when Christopher started pointing out details in his stories were inconsistent.
In 1945 the Thomas the Tank Engine books began to be published and in 1984, Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends made its broadcast debut as a live action show. In 2010, the series became Thomas and Friends evolving into an animated CGI production. For the first time Thomas spoke with his own voice, instead of being narrated. These changes prompted an international boom for the brand with broadcasts in 180 territories worldwide. Thomas’ adventures continue to evolve as he journeys off his home island of Sodor around the world.
Fonic joined the series when it became Thomas and Friends during series 13, working across the full audio post production. We have just completed series 24, and as well as working on the series audio, Fonic has also worked on other storytelling opportunities, including special episodes, films, exclusive YouTube content, music and podcasts.
