National Film and Television School Graduate Showcase 2024

From 19 – 22 February the National Film and Television School (NFTS) held their Graduate Showcase 2024 at BFI Southbank.

Supported by BBC Studios, the showcase celebrated the culmination of over 500 students’ work towards over 80 original short films, TV shows, commercials and games. The showcase also provided an opportunity for members of the screen industries to see first hand the work of graduating students and to meet the next generation of film, television and games makers that will be shaping the industry for years to come.

The NFTS Class of 2024 created a diverse slate of work, featuring innovative and creative new games, films, television programmes and animations with many of the productions screened already securing spots at prestigious festivals around the world.

Fonic’s Director, Barnaby Templer is a guest lecturer at the NFTS providing mentorship to the animation and sound departments which he has done for over 10 years. He said of this year’s showcase: “The NFTS graduate animations films  were incredible! Such a rich diversity of stories and mediums with exceptional production values throughout. It was a privilege to observe the films develop from animatic stage through to completion. It was a fantastic collaboration across all the NFTS departments that came together to make these beautiful pieces. Well done everyone and look forward to the Films successful journeys to all the festivals!”

Ahead of the showcase, the Southbank Centre also hosted the 2024 BAFTA’s which featured a double BAFTA win for two NFTS student-made films, after making their industry debut just 12 months ago. The teams behind Jellyfish and Lobster and Crab Day won British Short Film award and best British Short Animation respectively. Congratulations to everyone involved and the NFTS!
