The Naughty Seat

The Naughty Seat is a short puppet animation for young audiences, animated and directed by David Johnson. The film follows a comic episode in the lives of two sailors and a penguin sharing life on a tropical island, told entirely through visual humour. The film has been screened at numerous national and international festivals and received the 3+ Audience Prize at the Ciné Junior Festival in 2026. Fonic created the full post sound production, designing a lively and expressive soundtrack to enhance the timing and physical comedy of the story without the use of dialogue. 

Director David Johnson is an animator, director and producer whose company Famous Flying Films specialises in puppet animation for children. Among his best-known productions is The Koala Brothers, which was nominated four times for the BAFTA Awards and won both a BAA Award and an Emil Award. Alongside his television work, David continues to produce independent short films that screen at festivals worldwide.
